These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ink & Chapter website and the publishing services we provide ("Services"). By using our website or engaging us for work, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Our Services

Ink & Chapter offers book publishing services that may include ghostwriting, editing, proofreading, cover design, illustration, formatting, publishing and distribution setup, audiobooks, marketing, and related author services. The specific scope, deliverables, timeline, and price for your project will be set out in a separate proposal or agreement. In the event of a conflict, that project agreement controls over these Terms.

2. Quotes & Consultations

Consultations and quotes are free and carry no obligation. A quote is an estimate based on the information you provide; final pricing is confirmed in your project agreement. We begin work once the scope is agreed and any required deposit is received.

3. Payments

• Fees, deposits, and payment schedules are defined in your project agreement.
• Unless stated otherwise, a deposit is required before work begins, with the balance due per the agreed schedule.
• Late or missed payments may pause work until the account is brought current.
• Because our work is custom and time-based, payments for completed work are non-refundable except as set out in your agreement.

4. You Own Your Work

You retain 100% of the rights and royalties to your book. On full payment for a given deliverable, all intellectual property in the work we create for you (such as the manuscript, cover, and interior) is yours. We are a service provider, not a rights-holder or publisher of record. We may display non-confidential finished work (for example, your published cover) in our portfolio and marketing unless you ask us in writing not to.

5. Your Responsibilities

• Provide accurate information and the materials, feedback, and approvals we need to do the work on time.
• Ensure that any content you supply is yours to use and does not infringe the rights of others or break the law.
• Review deliverables and request revisions within the windows set in your agreement.

6. Revisions & Approvals

Each project includes a defined number of revision rounds. Once you approve a deliverable, or once the review window closes, that stage is considered final. Additional changes may be quoted separately.

7. Third-Party Platforms

Publishing and distribution rely on third parties such as Amazon KDP, Apple Books, IngramSpark, and others, each with their own terms, review processes, and timelines. We do not control and are not responsible for their decisions, fees, availability, or how they display or price your book.

8. Intellectual Property of the Site

The website, including its design, text, graphics, and logos, is owned by Ink & Chapter and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse it without our written permission.

9. Disclaimers

We deliver our Services with professional care, but we do not guarantee any particular outcome, including sales figures, rankings, reviews, or acceptance by any retailer. The website and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ink & Chapter will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the website or Services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

11. Confidentiality

We keep your manuscripts, ideas, and project details confidential and use them only to deliver your project, as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Termination

Either party may end a project as set out in the project agreement. On termination, you are responsible for payment for work completed up to that point, and we will hand over the deliverables you have paid for.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts located in Illinois.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our website or Services means you accept the updated Terms.
